Full Guided Walking Tour of Tulum Mayan Ruins
Chichen Itza gives me goosebumps. Not many structures to see, but very impressive. Tulum ruins is a site that can be done in an hour and a half. Uniquely situated on the coast, Tulum ruins showcase over 60 restored structures and temples, many with balconies overlooking the ocean. Chichen Itza has better-preserved ruins. El Castillo here is much taller than El Castillo in Tulum. Chichen Itza houses the largest ball court.

Climbing is allowed at some of the more remote Mayan sites such as Coba and Ek Balam though I would not really advise it. Tulum, on the other hand, is smaller. Before the Spanish arrived, the Mayan civilization thrived here, leaving behind impressive structures that are easily accessible from popular tourist spots like Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Not the ideal day of the week to visit either Chichen Itza or Tulum.
